Saïd Chraïbi

© Gilles Abegg

Raised with Moroccan Andalusian and Middle Eastern traditions, alongside Turkish-Balkan musical traditions and flamencos, Saïd Chaïbi’s repertory consequently has a multitude of inspirational sources. Autodidact, musical creator and virtuoso lutenist, the maturity of his talent is revealed through a flourishing and disciplined imaginary. The repertory is thus modern, free, luminous and aesthetical. He performed with percussionist Jamal Rioui at the Arab World Institute in 2000, a performance which was rich in improvisations. The artist has passed away on the 3rd of March 2016.
