Created in 1975 by the leaders of the Egyptian Coptic community, the David Ensemble is an ambassador choir in charge of celebrating liturgic music of a Christian church in renewal. Under the direction of Georges Kirollos, the choir members interpret in unison very long sentences chanted by the metallic tones of one single instrument, the naqous (triangle). Ancient melodies, psalms sublimated by impressive vocal effects, the repertory of the David Ensemble is articulated around Saint Basil and Saint Gregory of Nazianzus masses in particular. Fascinating, the interpretations of these traditional chants invites us to meditate.
